A little after 4:00 p.m. on April 10, 2017, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received several 911 calls regarding the sounds of gunshots in the 4500 block of Altadena Way in Sacramento.
Deputies responded to the scene and located a vehicle which crashed through a fence and into a backyard. Deputies contacted a male driver inside the vehicle, who was suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Sacramento Metro Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
First responding deputies were provided descriptions of subjects who were seen around the incident. Two male subjects were detained during a search of adjacent yards. A handgun was also located during the search. It is unknown at this time if the two detained subjects were involved in the shooting. Detectives are on-scene and beginning their investigation. The motive of the shooting is unknown at this time.
