Shooting Victim Dies of Injuries
A man found shot in his car earlier this week has died as a result of his injuries. Lucas Esteban-Enrique, 29, had been in the hospital since being discovered early Wednesday morning in the 10400 block of White Rock Road. He succumbed to his injuries late yesterday evening.
On January 2, 2013 shortly before 8:00 a.m., Rancho Cordova police officers responded to White Rock Road near Laurelhurst Drive regarding an unresponsive male inside a vehicle. The car was parked against the curb, facing the wrong direction in the traffic lane. Paramedics responded and removed the victim, Esteban-Enrique, from the vehicle to render aid. It was discovered at that time that he had sustained a gunshot wound.
Officers conducted a neighborhood canvass, but did not develop any definitive information regarding any suspect(s) associated with this incident. Detectives have discovered that the victim was driving from his residence to work when this crime occurred. Witnesses reported hearing a number of gunshots in the area, and at the time of the shooting, two black males wearing dark clothing were seen walking in the block where the victim was found.
