Sheriff's Department to Cease Coverage in Isleton

At 8:00 p.m. this evening, the Sheriff’s Department will relinquish the responsibility for law enforcement services in the city of Isleton to the Isleton Police Department. At 5:00 p.m. on January 12, 2012, the Sheriff’s Department assumed the primary role of responding to emergency calls involving imminent danger to life or posing an immediate threat to public safety. This arrangement was coordinated by Isleton Police Chief Steve Adams and Sheriff Scott Jones, due to a set of circumstances within the city pertaining to workers’ compensation coverage for public safety employees.

The aforementioned situation has since been rectified, and Sheriff Jones and Chief Adams, who remained in contact with each other during the past week, arranged with each respective agency to ensure a seamless transition of responsibility. Effective immediately, calls for service from the residents of Isleton will be dispatched back to the Isleton Police Department.
