Community Outreach Event Friday

The Sheriff's Department's Youth Services Unit (YSU) will collaborate with the Sheriff's Activities League (SAL) to host a community outreach event this Friday, March 1st, 2013, in the Foothill Farms area. The event will be hosted at Liberty Towers Church, who has partnered with YSU, SAL, and Project Grow, a targeted youth program designed to provide a safe place and source of activities for young people in the area.

Law enforcement and community partners recognize the importance of working together to invest in the future of our youth, and to help them recognize their full potential. This program is modeled after the Friday Night Hoops program in south Sacramento County, which has been in place since August of 2011.

This event will offer basketball, volleyball, dodgeball and other games, along with a BBQ and prizes for attendees. In addition, there will be a Sheriff's K9 demonstration, and a life lesson for youth incorporated into the program, which is free and open to the public.  

The Friday Night Hoops event will be at Liberty Towers Church, located at 5132 Elkhorn Boulevard, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For additional information regarding this event, please visit www.ssdysu.org.
