Death On Archer Avenue Suspected Homicide

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the suspicious death of 73-year-old Eleanore Nichols as a homicide. On March 9, 2008, Nichols’ body was found inside her Fair Oaks home after her 77-year-old husband had returned home from work and found the house on fire. The Sacramento County Coroner has determined Nichols had been shot. However, the Coroner has not released her cause of death pending the outcome of further testing.

Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District Arson Investigators are continuing to aggressively investigate this case and are following up on many different leads. Anyone with information regarding this case is urged to call the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
