Sheriff's Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting that claimed the life of a man in south Sacramento County earlier today. Shortly before 11:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 4200 block of East Nichols Avenue regarding a man who had been shot. Upon arrival, they discovered a 25 year-old male lying on the sidewalk. He had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Preliminary information suggested that a possible suspect vehicle was seen speeding away from the scene after the shooting. However, witness statements about the description of the vehicle differed and, as such, no definitive information regarding any suspect(s) is available at this time.
