Joint Effort Results In Two Robbery Arrests On April 24, 2008, at 11:21 a.m., Sacramento County Sheriff’s (SSD) deputies responded to the report of a bank robbery at the Washington Mutual Bank which is located at 4450 Florin Road. Arriving deputies were told by bank employees they had been robbed by two suspects. Witnesses described the suspects as two black males, in their late teens or early twenties, both were said to be wearing hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans. One of the suspects was said to be wearing a fluorescent green tee shirt under his sweatshirt. All surrounding law enforcement agencies were immediately notified of the robbery. Sheriff’s deputies and Sacramento Police Department (SPD) officers quickly tracked the suspects to an apartment complex which is located in the 5100 block of Mack Road; within the Sacramento Police Department’s jurisdiction. A perimeter, consisting of both sheriff’s deputies and police officers was quickly established around the complex to contain the suspects. Believing the suspects had been contained, and with an initial evacuation of the surrounding apartment units completed, a joint SSD/SPD command post was established within the complex. The SPD SWAT team arrived a short time later and performed a systematic search of the apartment units where the suspects were believed to be hiding. During their search of the apartments, SPD SWAT officers discovered two subjects who were detained for questioning. When SPD had completed their search for possible suspects, SSD Robbery Detectives searched the apartment where the two subjects were found. During their search the detectives recovered evidence, including a large amount of cash; they believe ties the two subjects to the bank robbery. After being interviewed by SSD Robbery detectives the two subjects were arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on the charge of robbery. The two are identified as brothers Devin Laroyce Santos (21) and Christopher Monroe Santos (19); both are residents of Sacramento. Sergeant Tim Curran, |
