Woman Arrested for Roommate's Death
Earlier today, Sheriff's Homicide detectives arrested Linda Gabaldon, 45, in connection with the shooting death of a woman in her south Sacramento home two days ago. Gabaldon (see attached photo), who had already been in custody pursuant to a violation of parole, was booked on a charge of murder, and is ineligible for bail.
On April 23, 2013 shortly before 4:00 p.m., Gabaldon called the Sheriff's Department to report that she had returned home in the 5900 block of Mascot Avenue, and found her roommate shot to death. Deputies discovered the victim, Rebecca Brau, 53, inside one of the bedrooms of the residence. She had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Results of the follow-up investigation revealed evidence that was inconsistent with Gabaldon's statement to detectives. Investigators believe that Gabaldon and the victim became embroiled in an altercation, which led to Gabaldon fatally shooting the victim. The weapon used in this incident has yet to be located.Anyone having information pertinent to this incident is asked to contact the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115.
