Info Sought in Homicide Case
Sheriff's Homicide detectives are investigating a shooting earlier this week that claimed the life of one man and injured another. Ralph Squires, 34, succumbed to his injuries yesterday and was pronounced dead at a local hospital. A 39 year-old man who was also shot during the incident is expected to survive.
On June 24, 2013 shortly after 3:15 a.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the 5100 block of Dream Court. Multiple calls were received from residents in the area stating that a woman was outside in the street, yelling that a man had been shot. Upon arrival, deputies contacted the woman, along with two men inside a vehicle parked on the street. Squires, the driver of the car, had been shot multiple times in the upper body. The other man, a passenger in the car, was shot once in the lower body.
Investigation revealed that the woman and both victims had been in the vehicle in the area of Roseville Road, between Tacomic Drive and Oakhollow Drive. They were confronted by unknown person(s) in another vehicle, who shot at their car multiple times. With Squires seriously injured in the driver's seat, the female passenger took control of the vehicle and they were able to pull onto nearby Dream Court. The female, who was not shot, exited the car and attempted to solicit emergency help by notifying residents in the area.
No descriptive information was available regarding the suspect(s) or the vehicle associated with the shooting.
