Church Deacon Arrested for Child Molestation

On December 8, 2009, 65-year-old Robert Lindsay Cowan was arrested at his home in Cool, California by Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Child Abuse detectives. Detectives had an arrest warrant for five counts of lewd acts upon a child under the age of 14 years. Cowan was booked (see booking photo below) into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is being held without bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned on December 10, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. in Department 63.

Cowan is a Deacon at the Baptist Church of Cool, and travelled to the Sacramento area for in-home bible study sessions. The molestations occurred during one of his in-home bible study sessions.

The investigation is ongoing and detectives are in the process of determining if Cowan has victimized other children. Anyone who has information regarding the inappropriate actions of Robert “Bob” Lindsay Cowan is urged to call Sheriff’s Child Abuse Detective John Linke at (916) 874-5964.
