At 5:15 a.m. on March 17, 2017, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a stabbing that occurred in the 4400 block of 37th Avenue in South Sacramento.
Deputies responded to the scene and located a 48-year-old victim suffering from apparent stab wounds. The victim was unresponsive upon deputys’ arrival. Deputies immediately began life saving measures. Sacramento Metro Fire responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The suspect was described as a 51-year-old Hispanic male, who fled the scene possibly on a bicycle. Deputies conducted an exhaustive search of the area for the suspect, but were unable to locate him. The suspect and victim are known to each other. Witnesses stated an argument ensued between the two parties prior to the stabbing. It is unknown what the argument involved. Homicide detectives are on-scene and are beginning their investigation.
The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
