Arrest in Coed Lane Homicide

A little after 3:30 p.m. on March 28, 2017, Lincoln Police Department received a 911 call from an unknown male stating he shot a woman in a mobile home located on Coed Lane in South Sacramento.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a mobile home located in the 8200 block of Coed Lane in South Sacramento.  Inside they located a 24 year old female victim with a gunshot wound to the head.  She was pronounced deceased at the scene.  Homicide detectives are on-scene and beginning their investigation.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Department responded to the dead end of old Highway 65 in Sheridan, and located the subject’s vehicle.  Joshua Anthony Childers, 25, of Sacramento was detained without incident.  Sheriff’s deputies took custody of the Childers and transported him to detectives to be interviewed regarding the incident.  Childers and the victim had a dating relationship.  It is still unknown what led up to the shooting.

Childers was arrested for murder and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail.  He is currently ineligible for bail, and is scheduled to be arraigned in Sacramento Superior Court on March 30, 2017.

The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to her next of kin.
