Depositing money into an inmate's account:
Cash, ATM, cashier’s checks or money orders will be accepted for inmate accounts, at the gatehouse, between the hours of 7:30 AM and 9:00 PM. ATM, cashier’s checks or money order transactions require a valid ID. All deposit transactions require a deposit slip, which is available in the gatehouse lobby. Money orders and cashier’s checks are to be made payable to the inmate and must include the x-reference number. Be sure to use the name they were booked under (please check the printed inmate name roster also located in the lobby). Credit cards, personal checks and coins WILL NOT be accepted. NO CHANGE will be given out. Money may also be deposited at the downtown Main Jail.
In addition, NO person released from the Main Jail or Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center within a period of 30 days will be allowed to place money or request money removed from any in-custody person’s account. Money can ONLY be withdrawn ONCE from an inmate’s account during their custody period.

ACE Cash Express –You may deposit money for an inmate at any ACE Cash Express office. To find a local ACE Cash Express Office, call 888-FIND-ACE or visit their website at https://www.acecashexpress.com. You must have the inmate’s Xref number and they only accept cash.
Touchpay Direct – By phone at 1-866-232-1899 or by Internet at http://www.touchpaydirect.net. Facility location number is 257501 and you will need the inmate’s name and X-reference number. There is also a Touchpay Kiosk in the Main Jail Lobby.
Correspondence:
ALL correspondence, including money orders, must have a return name and address and be addressed in the following manner:
Inmate’s Name, X-Reference number, Housing Location

Inmate Release Funds
Effective April 9th, 2013, all individuals released from the Sacramento County Main Jail and the Rio Cosumnes Correctional Center with funds will be issued a Prestige MasterCard Debit Card. Releases will no longer receive cash or checks upon release. This change will not affect transfers to other agencies: they will continue to receive transfer checks in accordance with our current Department Policy. However, that practice may change in the future and other agencies will be notified in the event of such change.
