The Homicide Bureau investigates homicides, deaths of a suspicious nature, and criminally related or suspicious deaths occurring within the Sheriff's Correctional System. The Bureau is also responsible for investigating officer involved or allied agency involved shootings or police activity that results in injury or death within Sacramento County, and kidnappings with no other major crime involved.

The Homicide Bureau is currently re-investigating the following unsolved cases and is seeking assistance from the public: Can you help?

  • February 1978, Kathie and Brian Maggoire were walking their dog in Rancho Cordova which was a nightly routine. The victims were confronted by an armed suspect who shot Brian. The suspect chased down and shot Kathie. Both died of their wounds. Contact Sergeant Hill regarding case #78-7475.
  • June 1979, Renee Stout, 2 months old, was transported to Kaiser Hospital by her mother. Renee was suffering from severe head injuries. She was discovered to have received numerous stab wounds to her head and skull fractures. Detectives Garverick and Fancher are investigating case #79-37662.
  • April 1980, Robin Brooks was discovered dead on her waterbed in her apartment in the Rosemont are of Sacramento County. She died of stab wounds to her upper torso. All windows and doors were secured prior to arrival of a friend. Sergeant Hill is the contact on case #80-31213.
  • July 1980, John and Christoria Bilkei were found murdered in bed in their home on Donnawood Way in Orangevale. Both victims were fully clothed and had been stabbed numerous times. Detectives Minter and Timberlake are investigating case #80-54812.
  • May 1996, Carol Blake was found by deputies lying on her back in the living room of her house on Wild Horse Court in Orangevale. She received multiple gunshots to her upper torso and died at the scene. The home was not forcibly entered. Detectives Minter and Timberlake are investigating case #96-36526.
  • May 1997, Joshua Fish was standing with friends near the intersection of Scottsdale and Fernridge Drive in South Sacramento. A white car drove by and words were exchanged. The front passenger of the car shot Fish in the head. Detectives Stomsvik and Bayles is investigating case #97-68875.
  • June 1997, Lameika Bullard was found lying alongside a rural road in southern Sacramento County. She was wearing only a bra and wrapped in a worn pink blanket. She died of numerous stab wounds to her back and chest. Detective Timberlake is assigned to case #97-50293.
  • August 1997, Doris Inzunza, was last seen at her residence on May Court in Rancho Cordova at 12:30 AM. She had never disappeared before and the circumstances of her disappearance are quite unusual. Detectives Newton and Cabral are assigned to case #97-68875.
  • March 1998, Mitchell Celestine Jr. answered his apartment door in Rancho Cordova and was confronted by a suspect brandishing a firearm. A fight ensued and Celestine was shot. He later died at a hospital. Detectives Newton and Cabral are assigned case #98-21383.
  • March 2001, On 3-26-2001 Scott "Scotty Boombotty" Lee was just entering his apartment on Greenback Lane in Citrus Heights when he was approached by unknown suspects. Lee was shot numerous times as he jumped out his bedroom window. Lee was a marijuana dealer and had a safe in his house which was found open with a large amount of money inside. No marijuana was found by detectives. A $10,000 reward is offered by the Sacramento County Sheriff's Murder Victims Reward Fund which was funded by seized assets in this case.
