The Sacramento Sheriff's Department Sex Offender Registration Detail (S.O.R.D.) consists of two Sheriff's Detectives and one Sheriff's Records Officer. Their duties include providing the public with accurate information on convicted sex offenders as mandated by Megan's law; assisting allied, local, State, and Federal law enforcement agencies in identifying and apprehending sexual assault suspects; investigating and enforcing the registration requirements of Penal Code 290; and providing a commitment to monitor and track sex offenders and their activities.

Sex offender registration (290 PC) is conducted at the Sheriff′s Department, 700 North 5th Street (Home Detention Office).
