Seeking Assistance – Wallet & Credit Card Theft

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Detectives are requesting assistance with a series of theft cases which have occurred throughout Sacramento County.

While committing these crimes, the suspect(s) have approached the victims inside grocery stores and requested assistance with finding ingredients for a recipe. The suspect often explains that she is working for an elderly client and wants to surprise the client with a specific meal. The suspect is extremely friendly to the victims and each of the victims has spent a considerable amount of time with the suspect; however, while the victim is distracted, the suspect takes the victim’s wallet from her purse.

After the wallet is stolen, the suspect uses the victim’s stolen credit cards at nearby retail stores. The purchases are usually made before the victim notices her wallet is missing.

In each of these cases, the suspects have targeted female victims and in at least two cases, the female victims were elderly.

From December 7th – December 14th, there have been 7 victims identified.  The Sheriff’s Department is seeking additional members of the community who may have fallen victim to recent crimes involving similar circumstances.

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have recently been a victim of this crime series, to please contact the Sheriff’s Department Property Crimes Bureau at (916) 876-5733.
