National Night Out 2019

Tuesday, August 6, 2019

throughout Sacramento County

August 6, 2019, is National Night Out.  National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness; generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs; strengthen neighborhood spirit and law enforcement-community partnerships; and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized against crime.

Although the traditional turning on of porch lights remains a part, activities have expanded to block parties, ice cream socials, barbeques, parades and community meetings. As these groups come together to demonstrate their universal stand against crime, the main objective continues to be the simplest and one of the most effective crime prevention techniques of all – getting to know your neighbors.

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office executive and command staff will be out on National Night Out visiting with these groups, to thank them for being active participants in the fight against crime.
