Homicide Investigation in North Highlands

Shortly after 9:45 p.m. on September 2, 2020, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call from the 4600 block of Watt Avenue regarding a shooting.

Deputies responded and located a 36-year-old male suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Deputies immediately began life saving measures as fire personnel responded. Fire personnel arrived and transported the victim to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Homicide detectives responded and believe the shooting was targeted, although a motive is not known at this time. Witness interviews are still being conducted. No suspect information is available.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
