Homicide Pamphlet

The mission of the of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau is to provide a continuity of service by conducting specialized and innovative investigations that reach conclusions which meet the needs of our victims’ families and the community. To accomplish the mission the Bureau employs foundational investigative methods and contemporary techniques to assist in the prosecution of offenders.

The Homicide Bureau is comprised of 12 detectives supervised by two detective sergeants. Missing persons and cold case detectives are also part of the bureau allowing for greater support across the investigations.

The primary responsibilities of the Homicide Bureau are to investigate homicides, deaths of a suspicious nature, and suspicious or criminally related deaths occurring within the Sheriff's Correctional System. The Bureau is also responsible for investigating officer involved shootings or police activity that results in injury or death within Sacramento County to include allied agencies, and kidnappings with no other major crime involved.
