Homicide Investigation in Rio Linda

At little before 7:00 p.m. on May 1, 2017, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call regarding someone who was stabbed in the 6700 block of West 2nd Street in Rio Linda.

Deputies arrived on scene and located an 18 year old male suffering from a stab wound to the upper torso. Deputies immediately began life saving measures.  The Sacramento Metro Fire Department responded and transported the subject to a local hospital in critical condition.  Deputies located the other involved18 year old male inside the residence that had major injuries to his hands.  He was also transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.  The male who was stabbed in the upper torso later succumbed to his injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Homicide detectives have responded to the scene to continue the investigation.  Deputies learned there were ongoing issues between the two involved males.  The deceased male arrived at the residence of the other male, and a physical altercation ensued.  The stabbing occurred during the altercation.

Detectives will investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.  Information gleaned from the investigation will be shared with the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, and a determination of any arrest will be made at that time.  No subjects of the incident are outstanding.
