Arrest Made in Fruitridge Road Double Murder

On May 12, 2017, Homicide detectives arrested Hieu Hoang, 20, of Sacramento for the murders of 19-year-old Daniel Robert Murti and 15-year-old Sergio Murti which occurred yesterday afternoon on Fruitridge Road.  Detective from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau located Hoang as a passenger on a vehicle stop in South Sacramento and took him into custody.


A little after 12:00 p.m. on May 11, 2017, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a shooting in the 5200 block of Fruitridge Road in South Sacramento.

Deputies responded to the scene and located Daniel and Sergio Murti on the ground in the parking lot of a strip mall, both whom sustained gunshot wounds and were unresponsive.  Sacramento Metro Fire responded to the scene, and pronounced both victims deceased at the scene.

Witnesses heard several gunshots in the area, and observed at least two suspects in a light colored SUV flee the scene east on Fruitridge Road.  Homicide detectives are still looking into the motive of the shooting, and another suspect that is still outstanding.  The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 18-22 years old, approximately 5’5” to 5’7” tall, and weighing130-150 pounds.
