Detectives Investigating South Sacramento Homicide

At 12:15 a.m. on August 27, 2017, the Sheriff’s Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a man who was shot in the 7500 block of Cottontree Way in South Sacramento.

Deputies responded to the scene and located a 37-year-old male victim on the ground in the front yard of a residence.  The victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.  Deputies immediately began life saving measures.  Sacramento Metro Fire responded and transported the victim to a local hospital.  The victim later succumbed from his injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Deputies learned there was a party at the residence.  An argument occurred at the party, and some subjects were asked to leave.  Several gunshots were fired from a light colored sedan several minutes later.  The victim was struck by the gunfire.  The suspect vehicle fled south on Renton Way after the shooting.  There is no suspect description at this time.

The identity of the victim in this case will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office, after notification has been made to his next of kin.
