Phone Scam Alert

We have recently been notified that some of our residents have received scam phone calls, during which the caller identifies themselves as a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department employee.  The caller then informs the victim they have a warrant and provides them with instructions on how to make a payment to avoid arrest.

We would like to advise our residents that our Warrants Bureau will not call demanding payment to clear a warrant and to be cautious regarding any phone call from an unknown source demanding monetary payment.

If you receive this or other scam phone calls, you can file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on their website here: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt

If you have been a victim of this scam, please contact your nearest service center to make a report.  Here’s a link to locate the service center nearest you:  https://www.sacsheriff.com/Pages/Services/ServiceCenters.aspx
