Suspect in connection to Sheldon High School stabbing arrested by school resource officer

On March 19, 2018, at 9:20 p.m. Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputies located and arrested the suspect in the Sheldon High School stabbing.  The suspect was a 17 year old Sheldon High School student who was booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall last evening.


On March 19, 2018, at 1:34 p.m. the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received a 911 call from a subject at a residence near Sheldon High School.  The caller stated there was a 16 year old male who arrived at the residence bleeding from a stab wound.  A deputy sheriff school resource officer who was assigned to the campus responded to the residence.

Once on scene, it was determined that the victim was a student at Sheldon High School.  Further investigation revealed that the stabbing occurred in the bathroom near the gymnasium on campus.  Multiple deputies and detectives arrived on campus to assist.  As a precautionary measure, the campus was put on lock down and parents were notified by the Elk Grove School District.

Sacramento Metro Fire responded to the residence and transported the victim to Kaiser for treatment of non-life threatening wounds.

During the preliminary stages of the investigation, deputies were able to detain a student for questioning who is considered a person of interest.  Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department detectives are investigating the incident, interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence and attempting to establish a motive and what lead to the incident.
