Arrest in North Area Homicide and Arson Investigation

On April 1, 2018, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District responded to a structure fire in the 7500 block of Costa Mesa Circle within a North Highlands neighborhood.

During the initial response, Fire District personnel located a deceased female inside the structure and suspected arson may have played a role in the cause of the fire.  The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District’s collaborative Arson and Bomb Task Force was requested to respond.  Investigators determined the cause of the fire was arson and suspected the female was the victim of a homicide.

Sacramento Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detectives were notified of the incident and a possible suspect was later identified.
