Sheriff’s Detectives Investigate Homicide on Auburn Boulevard

On July 25, 2018, at 8:02 AM, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received a request for assistance from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department.  Information received from the fire department indicated paramedics responded to the 5600 Block of Auburn Boulevard for an unresponsive male.

Fire personnel indicated paramedics arrived and located the male, then shortly thereafter, pronounced the victim deceased.

Sheriff’s department personnel responded and began their investigation.  During the preliminary stages of this investigation, deputies identified signs that a violent assault had occurred.  Detectives were called to the scene and are currently investigating this incident as a homicide.  Detectives are interviewing potential witnesses and processing the scene, attempting to piece together exactly what took place.

The victim has tentatively been identified as male in his thirties and at this point, detectives have not yet established a motive.

Investigators believe this incident stemmed from an assault earlier this morning beginning at or around 6:30 AM and are asking anyone who may have seen people fighting near Auburn Boulevard east of Garfield Avenue, to contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department.

The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
