UPDATE Sheriff’s Detectives Investigate Homicide on Watt Avenue

UPDATE:  Homicide Detectives are still attempting to identify the suspect in this case.  Investigators are asking the community to help identify a possible witness and suspect.  Homicide Investigators have obtained video of the suspect and a black female adult who was in the company of the suspect.  The suspect is described as a white male adult in his late 20s to early 30s.  At this point detectives believe the female wearing a white t-shirt in this video footage doesn’t have any involvement in the incident and are treating her as a potential witness.  If you recognize the male suspect or the female in the video, please contact the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP.  Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).  If you are unable to view the attached video, please visit our social media platforms.

On July 25, 2018, at 8:26 PM the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communications Center received information in regards to a male being run over by a vehicle in the 4600 block of Watt Avenue in north Sacramento County.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded along with personnel from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department.  Upon arrival of first responders, the victim was located in a business parking lot and pronounced dead at the scene.

Sheriff’s Deputies began speaking with witnesses and obtained additional information as the investigation began.  Preliminary information has led investigators to believe the victim was intentionally run over by the driver of the vehicle and after the incident, the suspect fled from the scene by driving the vehicle southbound on Orange Grove Avenue at a high rate of speed.

The victim has not yet been positively identified but he is believed to be Hispanic.  The vehicle has been described as being a light color, full-size pickup truck.  There is no known motive at this time and there are no suspects in custody.  Detectives are seeking information regarding this vehicle and its occupants or anyone who may have witnessed the incident.

The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.

Detectives are asking anyone with information relating to this incident, to please contact the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP.  Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
