Homicide on Howe Avenue

On August 4, 2018, at 6:27 A.M. the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department received a

9-1-1 call from the 1100 block of Howe Avenue.  This location is a very large apartment complex in the north Sacramento area.  The caller stated someone was shot at the location but did not provide any additional information.

Deputies arrived at the scene and were directed to an apartment within the complex.  Once inside, deputies located the victim and while attempting to render life-saving measures, were unable to find a pulse.  Personnel from the Sacramento Metro Fire Department arrived on the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

Sheriffs deputies began their preliminary investigation by speaking with witnesses and isolating the crime scene.  Homicide Detectives responded and are working on piecing together what occurred leading up to the shooting.  Detectives have not yet determined a motive but at this point, this is not believed to be a random act.

The victim has tentatively been identified as a 27-year-old male and it is believed he sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.

The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.

Detectives are asking anyone with information relating to this incident, to please contact the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP.  Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
