Regional Active Shooter Training

On August 10, 2018 members of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department will be leading active shooter training for numerous public safety agencies in the Sacramento Region.  This training, graciously hosted by a local school police department will take place at Foothill High School located at 5000 McCloud Drive in Sacramento from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The training in this program incorporates unified command, combat casualty care, team movement and patient care while utilizing effective communication to work together in potentially hazardous environments.  In an effort to improve public safety during events involving an active shooter, officer down and intentional mass casualty incident scenarios, local law enforcement agencies along with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District have partnered together to ensure readiness should such an incident occur in any of the communities we serve.

We want the community in the immediate area to be aware the training is taking place and to be mindful they may hear unfamiliar sounds and see a large law enforcement presence in the neighborhood immediately surrounding the school.  School will not be in session on this date, the campus will be closed to the public and no students will be present.  There is no impact to traffic expected and there will be no road closures as a result of this event.

Media availability will take place at the training site between 8:00 AM and 9:30 AM.  Please contact Sergeant Shaun Hampton if you wish to attend or to make alternate arrangements.
