Sheriff’s Detectives Arrest Ride-Share Driver

In June 2018, three female friends contacted the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and reported an incident involving a driver for the ride-share service, Uber.  A Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to Central Division took the report and the case was forwarded to detectives for follow-up.

The initial incident reportedly occurred in the south Sacramento area where it is alleged the driver, who was identified as 36–year-old Mark Filanov of Rancho Cordova, refused to let the female victims out of his vehicle.  Sheriff’s Detectives conducted a thorough investigation into this incident.  During the investigation, detectives contacted victims, witnesses, and reviewed electronic and physical evidence.  At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives requested an arrest warrant be issued for the arrest of Filanov.  This warrant request was granted by a Sacramento Superior Court Judge.

On August 17, 2018, Filanov was arrested by Sheriff’s Department Detectives in the north Sacramento area.  Filanov faces kidnapping charges and is currently being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail in lieu of $375,000.00 bail.
