Robbery and Shooting on Arden Way

On September 11, 2018, at 3:23 P.M. the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department received several 911 calls from a retail store in the 2400 block of Arden Way in north Sacramento.  The callers reported a robbery in progress at the location and indicated gunshots had been fired.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene, located the victim, and determined two suspects fled on foot.  Deputies discovered the victim was robbed and sustained injuries from an assault during the robbery.  The victim's injuries were not the result of gunshots.

The preliminary investigation revealed the incident began in the parking lot when the victim was confronted by the suspects.  At one point during the initial confrontation, the victim fled into the store and was pursued by at least one of the suspects.  Once inside the store, the suspect targeted the victim, firing several rounds at him from a handgun while multiple customers were present.

A large law enforcement perimeter was established, prompting a response by patrol deputies, air assets, SWAT, and canine deputies.  The suspects were not apprehended during the two-hour search, but deputies located several items of physical evidence believed to be related to the incident.

There are two male suspects in this case and they have been described as Caucasian or Hispanic.  The suspects had their faces covered during the robbery.  No further description is available at this time.

Detectives are asking anyone with information relating to this incident, to please contact the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP.  Tip information may also be left anonymously at or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
