Homicide Investigation on Coloma Road

On Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 8:37 pm, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communication Center received a call in the area of Coloma Road and Vehicle Drive regarding a shooting.  Rancho Cordova Police Officers immediately responded to the scene and upon arrival, they located the victim who had sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.

Officers attempted life-saving measures on the victim but unfortunately, those efforts were unsuccessful. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by personnel from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department.  At this point details are limited as to the circumstances surrounding this incident and a motive is not yet known.

It is believed the victim was targeted and we are continuing to develop additional suspect information at this time.  A vehicle was observed leaving the scene after the shooting and it has only been described as being a dark color.

Sheriff’s Department Homicide Detectives, are on the scene working collaboratively with Rancho Cordova Police Department Detectives, attempting to piece together the details.

The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
