Child Shot in South Sacramento

On September 11, 2018, at 9:33 P.M. the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a child being shot in the 7400 block of Della Circle in south Sacramento County.

As Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene, they learned the child, a three-year-old, was transported from the scene to an area hospital by private vehicle.  Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the home where the shooting occurred and located the scene.  Detectives responded along with crime scene investigators and will remain on scene for several hours.

At this point, it is believed the child was inside the home at the time of the shooting and the shots were fired from outside near the street.  Sheriff’s detectives are interviewing witnesses and gathering evidence in an attempt to develop a clear understanding of what took place.

There is no known motive for the shooting nor a suspect description available at this time. The child remains in critical condition and is receiving treatment in a Sacramento area hospital.
