Homicide Investigation in North Sacramento

On November 25, 2018, at 2:27 A.M., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department Communication Center began receiving calls regarding a shooting in the 2200 block of Cottage way in north Sacramento.  Additional calls received indicated there was a male shot at the location.

Deputies immediately responded and upon their arrival located a male inside an apartment suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his upper body.  Deputies also contacted several witnesses at the location.

The Sacramento Metro Fire Department responded and pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene along with crime scene investigators and are identifying, preserving, and collecting evidence in an attempt to determine what occurred leading up to the incident.  A suspect has not been identified and a motive for the shooting has not yet been established.

Detectives will remain on the scene for several hours today as they investigate this case.  Vehicular traffic in the area will not be impacted as a result of this incident.

The identity of the victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
