Suspects Arrested for November 2018 Homicide

On November 29, 2018, at 8:22 P.M., the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of two people being shot in the 7100 block of Flanders Way in north Sacramento. One of the victims, identified as 86-year-old John Barton, did not survive.

During the course of this investigation, detectives identified one of the suspects as 23-year-old Khalil Sabree of Elk Grove. Sabree was arrested on April 15, 2019, and was already in custody on unrelated charges.

Another suspect, in this case, was arrested on December 4, 2018, and he has been identified as 27-year-old Cochese Stevens of Oakland. Stevens’ photo is not being released at this time.

Both suspects are currently in custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail and are ineligible for bail due to their charges.
