**Update** Homicide Investigation in Rancho Cordova


On Thursday, March 26, 2020, Sacramento County Sheriff’s homicide detectives arrested 20-year-old Alexander Tijerina (see attached photo) in the shooting death of a 32-year-old man in Rancho Cordova. Tijerina was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail.

During their investigation, detectives were able to identify the vehicle used in the homicide. After speaking with several witnesses, they were able to identify the suspect as the person responsible for shooting and killing the victim.

No further information is available at this time.


At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received information from the California Highway Patrol regarding a shooting in the area of Sunrise Boulevard at Highway 50. Sacramento County Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded and determined an unknown suspect in a vehicle shot into another vehicle. An adult male passenger sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
