Homicide Investigation in North Sacramento *Suspect in Custody*

Shortly after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday October 28, 2020, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call from a subject requesting a welfare check at an apartment complex located at the 2000 block of Wyda Way in Sacramento County.

Deputies responded and located a deceased 38-year-old, female, adult inside the apartment.  Deputies were unable to immediately identify a cause of death.

Homicide detectives responded to the scene, gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses.  After a thorough investigation, 37-year-old, Eugene Leal, was later arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail for murder.  At this time, there are no further suspects outstanding. 

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
