Update**homicide Investigation on Folsom Blvd in Rancho Cordova

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest related to the murder of Christopher Ceja Ramirez (29) of Rancho Cordova.  25-year-old Jesus Santiago Alvarez Valencia of North Highlands (see attached photo) was arrested on January 31, 2021 and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide charges and attempted homicide of a second subject.

Detectives do not believe there are any outstanding suspects at this time. The motive and relationship between the suspect and victim is still being investigated. No additional information is available at this time.

At approximately 9:05 p.m. on January 29, 2021, the Sacramento Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call regarding an unconscious male lying in the parking lot of a business in the 10000 block of Folsom Boulevard in Rancho Cordova.  The caller advised that the subject had been struck by a vehicle and the vehicle was no longer at the scene.   

Deputies responded and located an unresponsive, adult male with significant trauma to his body. Moments later, fire personnel arrived and pronounced the subject deceased at the scene.  Deputies located an additional adult, male subject, who had also been struck by the vehicle, but sustained minor injuries.  He was later transported to a local area hospital for treatment and is expected to survive.
