Homicide Investigation 7300 Block of Berna Way

                                                   HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION 7300 BLOCK OF BERNA WAY

On Saturday, January 1, 2022, at approximately 4:59 p.m., our Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call in the 7300 block of Berna Way regarding a shooting that just occurred.  The caller advised that there was a male subject lying in the roadway.

Deputies responded and located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  Deputies performed life-saving measures while fire personnel responded.  Fire personnel transported the subject, however, the subject succumbed to his injuries while en route to the hospital.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence.  Based on preliminary investigation, our detectives believe that this is an isolated incident.  We do not believe there is a threat to the neighborhood or surrounding community.  No further information or suspect information is available at this time.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
