Arrest ** Homicide Investigation 5100 Block of Southwest Avenue

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives arrested Roman Julian Lopez (35) of Sacramento County for the May 4, 2022 murder of Daune Walton Johnson (30).  Lopez is well known to law enforcement and is on Formal Searchable Probation until 2023 in connection with a 2020 case, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Battery Against a Person/Previous Dating Relationship and Assault with Deadly Weapon.  Lopez is being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail without bail.  No further information is available at this time.

On Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at approximately 11:24 p.m., the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call from the 5100 block of Southwest Avenue.  The caller advised that someone was laying on the sidewalk.

Deputies responded and located an adult male suffering from at least one gunshot wound.  Deputies began performing life-saving measures on the victim while waiting for fire personnel arrive.  Sacramento Metro Fire arrived a short time later and pronounced the subject deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence.  No further information or suspect information is available at this time.
