Just after 10:30pm on Thursday, August 10, 2023, Detectives from the Sheriff’s Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) attempted to conduct a vehicle stop of a known gang member, 31-year-old Daniel BUSH. BUSH refused to stop and led Detectives on a vehicle pursuit, but ultimately crashed a short time later near Interstate-5 and Florin Road. Continuing his pattern of poor decisions, BUSH ran on foot across the southbound lanes of I-5 into a neighborhood, abandoning two children inside the vehicle.
Deputies set up a perimeter in the surrounding neighborhood, as Sheriffs K-9 Dax arrived on scene with his handler. After approximately 40 minutes and searching over 1/4 of a mile, K9 Dax located the suspect hiding in a garbage can. In BUSH’s only smart decision of the ordeal, he surrendered and was safely taken into custody.
The children in the vehicle were fortunately unharmed and released to family a short time later.
BUSH was booked into custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail for various felony charges, but bonded out hours later.
