On Monday, December 18, 2023, an adult male victim arrived at a local hospital with what was believed to be a gunshot wound and was pronounced deceased by medical staff a short time later.  Officers from the Rancho Cordova Police Department and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Homicide Detectives responded to the area of Viking Drive and Egmont Way, where the incident was believed to have taken place.  Detectives learned the victim had actually been stabbed during a fight and was not, in fact, shot. 

Based on their investigation, Sheriff's Homicide Detectives identified two juveniles, a male and a female, as the two suspects.  On Friday, January 19, 2024, detectives from the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Bureau arrested both suspects without incident.  The male suspect was arrested in Grass Valley, while the female suspect was arrested in North Sacramento.  No further details are available at this time.
