At approximately 2 PM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, a male inmate housed at the Sacramento County Main Jail was stabbed five to six times by a group of another three male inmates.  This assault took place during recreation time on 5-East.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.  The other three inmates were subsequently detained and isolated without further incident.  Once deputies complete their investigation, the inmates responsible will be charged and publicly identified.  No additional information is available at this time.
