Earlier today (February 22, 2024), 30-year-old Destiny Oakes entered an 88-year-old’s backyard by climbing over her fence. When confronted by the elderly victim, Oakes ran into the residence, and trapped the victim in the kitchen. Oakes grabbed the victim’s cell phone to prevent her from calling 911, stole her vehicle keys and fled in the victim’s vehicle.
Deputies responded quickly and located Oakes nearby in the victim’s vehicle. Central Division POP Deputies were able to take her into custody without incident. Oakes also had an unrelated felony no bail warrant out of Sacramento County for kidnapping, robbery and several other charges from a previous case. Oakes was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on several new felony charges, where she currently remains ineligible for bail.
