Property Crimes Arrest

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Property Crimes Detectives began an investigation into a felony retail theft from a store in South Sacramento on February 13, 2024. Today, the Sheriff’s Office Central Division Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team and Organized Retail Crimes Group joined the Sacramento County Probation Department to search a known probationer, 20-year-old Simmuel Reed, who was a suspect in more than 15 large retail theft cases throughout Northern California, and also had an outstanding felony arrest warrant. Reed was arrested and detectives discovered more than $10,000 worth of stolen retail merchandise from WSS SHOES, BATH & BODY WORKS, MARSHALL’s, NIKE, ZUMIEZ and various other retailers, all inside his home. Many of the items recovered still had the anti-theft security tags and stickers still in place. Reed is currently in custody at the Sacramento County Main Jail.

Detectives believe that Reed has committed several more unreported thefts in the area. If your business has been victimized by Mr. Reed, please contact the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115.
