Four Juveniles Arrested After Setting Stolen Car on Fire and Leading Deputies on a Vehicle Pursuit in Another Stolen Car

Just after midnight this morning, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office North Patrol Deputies responded to the 4300 block of Warehouse Court in North Highlands to a burglary alarm. The Sheriff’s Communication Center received an additional 911 call reporting that a vehicle had been set on fire and suspects had fled the scene. A responding Sheriff’s K9 Deputy located the suspect vehicle and attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The driver led Deputies on a vehicle pursuit, but Deputies were able to employ the PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver near Marconi Avenue and Lacy Lane, disabling the vehicle. The driver and three other occupants, one of whom was seen fleeing with a rifle in their hands, fled from the vehicle on foot.
Deputies set up a perimeter and quickly detained the driver and one passenger. Utilizing an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS/drone), the other two passengers were located and apprehended by Sheriff’s K9 Dave. Deputies recovered the rifle as well as another handgun from one of the other suspects. All four suspects were juveniles who were subsequently arrested and booked into Sacramento County Juvenile Hall. Both the burned vehicle and the vehicle the juveniles attempted to flee in had been reported stolen.

During the investigation, Deputies discovered a video on Instagram showing the suspects and numerous other individuals lighting the vehicle on fire in the original parking lot where the K9 Deputy initially located them. Detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the other individuals in the video, which can be found on the Sheriff’s social media channels.
