Woman Kidnapped from Home by Estranged Boyfriend; Arrested Within Minutes

At approximately 11:30 PM on Sunday, June 15, 2025, Sheriff’s Central Division Patrol Deputies responded to a call of a kidnapping, where the caller’s family member had been forcibly taken from her residence in South Sacramento by her estranged ex-boyfriend, later identified as 37-year-old Celso Madrid.  Deputies arrived on scene and learned that Madrid forcibly entered the victim’s residence, dragged her out by the hair, forced her into his vehicle and drove off.

While Deputies were on scene, the victim returned home after successfully escaping from Madrid’s vehicle near the residence.  Moments later, the shift Sergeant, who was also responding to the call, located the suspect’s vehicle near 47th Avenue and 44th Street.  Deputies and the Sergeant conducted a vehicle stop and detained Madrid without further incident.

Madrid was arrested for kidnapping and false imprisonment and transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains on $100,000 bail.  He is scheduled to appear in court on June 18.
