This afternoon at approximately 2 PM near the 2300 block of Arden Way, a vigilant Uber driver alerted the Sheriff’s Office of a passenger armed with a rifle during a recent ride.

Upon noticing the weapon, the female driver calmly made an excuse to stop at a nearby business. Once safely away from the vehicle, she had someone from the business call 911 and alert the Sheriff’s Office.

North Patrol Deputies quickly responded and detained the four passengers, including a 17-year-old male, who was determined to have been in possession of a loaded rifle with a high-capacity magazine. A records check revealed he was also on juvenile probation.

The juvenile was transported and booked into custody at Sacramento County Juvenile Hall.
