Armed Taco Bell Robber Arrested

Just after 4 PM today, our Communications Center received a 911 call reporting an armed robbery at the Taco Bell on the 4300 block of Sunrise Boulevard in Fair Oaks.

Within 10 minutes, Deputies spotted the suspect vehicle. When they attempted to stop it, the driver fled, leading deputies on a pursuit before crashing into a home and running away. The suspect was believed to have hidden inside a residence near the 4300 block of Rio Tinto Way.

Specialized units including SED (SWAT), CINT (Crisis Negotiators), K9, STAR, UAS (Drone) Team, and North Patrol all responded, utilizing “military equipment” such as armored vehicles, the Rook, and drones.

After several hours, deputies located and detained the suspect, 35-year-old Donald Caviness, who surrendered peacefully. He has since been booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail, where he remains ineligible for bail.
