Main Jail Inmate Death

Earlier this evening on October 6, 2025, a 66-year-old male Main Jail inmate was pronounced deceased at a local hospital. He had been in custody since September 10 for failing to register as a felony sex offender with a prior conviction. He was transported to the hospital on September 24 due to complications related to a pre-existing terminal medical condition.

Although the inmate passed away at the hospital due to a terminal illness, this case is still classified as an “in-custody death.”

The Sheriff’s Office will conduct a thorough inmate death investigation in accordance with department procedures and state laws. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause of death and forward its findings as prescribed by law. The Coroner’s Office will release the name of the deceased in accordance with their protocols.
